Unveiling My Favorite Journalist

A Glimpse Into Inspiring Journey of Vinod Dua

-By Sarah Khan

My favorite journalist is late Vinod Dua. He was an Indian journalist who worked in Doordarshan and then NDTV India. In year 1996, he was bestowed with Ramnath Goenka Award in Journalism and he became the first electronic media journalist to win it. In year 2008, he was awarded with Padma Shri by the government of India.

I like Vinod Dua because of his splendid work of journalism. He has been known for his unbiased work and authenticity. He used to speak with facts and clear pronunciation following the ethics. His news covered wide range of topics from politics to even food. He hosted a famous food programme named 'Zaika India ka' exploring the exclusive food cultures of India.

Vinod Dua is known to be a pioneer in Hindi broadcast journalism. His dedication was unmatchable as he rarely took leaves from his work. He endorsed fearless journalism giving cultural journalism a new meaning. Some of his hit shows were Yuv Jan, Janvani, Aap ke liye etc. His contribution was marked into many channels like Zee News, TV Today. Despite his honest and truthful work in journalism, he had also been kind and down to earth. His satire on political leaders have also made strong meaningful impact.

One of the examples of ground report by Vinod Dua was his coverage of the impact of demonetisation on rural India in 2016. Dua travelled to several rural areas in UP to report on the effect of demonetisation on farmers and small businesses. He spoke with farmers who were unable to sell their crops due to the lack of cash in circulation, and small business owners who were struggling to keep their businesses afloat. He also spoke with villagers who were unable to access basic necessities like food and medicine due to shortage of cash.

As it is said that legends never die, the remarkable work of Vinod Dua will always be remembered. He left a trace of his work for centuries to learn.
